A teacher is someone
acknowledged as a guide or helper in the processes of learning. A teacher's
role may vary between cultures. In Islam
considerable attention has been paid to the role of the teacher, for their
being the first brick in the structure of social development, the cause of
guiding and developing behaviors and mentalities of individuals and communities.
The teacher’s role in education should not be viewed as simply the dissemination
of knowledge, for a knowledgeable person can be morally and spiritually corrupt.
Teachers must recognise how to intervene in the educational process of the
child, to support the development of moral and spiritual values in addition to
the academic knowledge. This will lead to a happy and complete personality of a
child.
Teachers must to be fully engaged in working with parents
to ensure that all of the needs of a child are met, the spiritual, moral and academic.
MTEC has written two booklets for Muslim parents and governors explaining their rights and responsibilities with respect to their children's practice of Islam in schools.
